Where I would host the Power 5 CFB Conference Championships

For the most part conference championships in CFB have been held in the same place for a number of years. I have gathered the best alternatives for hosting each respective title game.

SEC - Current Host: Atlanta, GA (City Since 1994 / Stadium Since 2017)

The SEC has been in Atlanta for a long time and would likely not move had the SEC stayed at 14 teams. Atlanta is not close to Texas or Oklahoma (Texas A&M as well) and the championship may have to move west for a few years to satisfy those schools.

ALTERNATIVES:

Arlington, Tx - AT&T Stadium

New Orleans, La - Superdome

Dark Horse: Birmingham, AL

I think the SEC may go to New Orleans for a few years but I do not think Texas will host the SEC title any time soon.

MY PICK: ATLANTA with New Orleans hosting at least 1

BIG TEN - Current Host: Indianapolis, IN (No Other Host since 2011 inception)

The Big Ten has actually floated the idea of rotating the championship between multiple locations as 2021 is the last one contracted for Indy. They have stuck with Indy since the start even after adding Rutgers and Maryland.

ALTERNATIVES:

Minneapolis, MN - US Bank Stadium

East Rutherford, NJ - MetLife Stadium

Chicago, IL - Soldier Field

Dark Horses: Detroit, MI / Cleveland, OH / Cincinnati, OH

I do not think the Buckeyes would approve of Detroit hosting the title game but that might be reading too far into it. Minneapolis has the best indoor facility but is very far west for a team like PSU. It gets cold in the Big Ten during December so I don't think they abandon the enclosed environment.

MY PICK: Rotation of MINNEAPOLIS / INDIANAPOLIS / DETROIT

ACC - Current Host: Charlotte, NC (Since 2010 except 2016)

The ACC has been in Charlotte for a while and it seems to be working just fine.

ALTERNATIVES:

Orlando, FL

East Rutherford, NJ - MetLife Stadium

Miami, FL

Dark Horse: Atlanta, GA (Would require SEC to leave)

They would love Atlanta but unless the SEC were to leave it behind, the ACC will be sticking to Charlotte.

MY PICK: CHARLOTTE

Big 12 - Current Host: Arlington, TX (Since re-introduction)

The Big 12 will still be Texas dominated even without Texas and OU.

ALTERNATIVES:

Kansas City, MO - Arrowhead Stadium

Dark Horse: Dallas, TX - Cotton Bowl

MY PICK: ARLINGTON, TX

PAC-12 - Current Host: Las Vegas, NV (Since 2021)

The PAC-12 began their title game on-campus and returned there last year but I think Las Vegas will be miles better than Santa Clara.

ALTERNATVES:

Inglewood, CA

Pasadena, CA - Rose Bowl

Campus Sites

Dark Horse: Seattle, WA

They should stay in Vegas period.

MY PICK: LAS VEGAS, NV
